How to Always Open a New Quick Note on Mac and iPad

Follow this guide if the Quick Note feature on your iPad or Mac always opens the last note you edited instead of creating a new one.

Person Taking Notes on iPad

Quick Note is a cool and useful feature available on iPad and Mac, but you’ve probably seen that it automatically resumes the same Quick Note every time you open it instead of creating a new one. Don’t worry, there’s a way to change this, and it’ll only take you a moment.

Quick Note Automatically Opens the Previous Note

By default, when you open a Quick Note on your iPad or Mac, it’ll always resume the last Quick Note you made, so you can resume what you were doing before. There’s no doubt that’s useful from time to time, but it can also get annoying, especially if you only use Quick Notes for different quick reminders or ideas.

The good news is that it’s really easy to change the settings, so your iPad or Mac always opens a new Quick Note.

  1. Open the Notes app on your Mac.
  2. Go to Notes > Preferences from the menu bar.
  3. Disable Resume last Quick Note to turn it off.
  4. Close the Preferences window.
