Apple recently announced its new MacBook Pro models with its proprietary Apple Silicon chipsets. The first in this line is the M1. It’s a big shift for Apple and macOS from using Intel processors and their architecture.

Moreover, the M1 processors use a different architecture, making a Mac more efficient and powerful. And with this new architecture, Macs can now run iPhone and iPad apps.

Although Apple lists them on the App Store, finding the iPad apps with the best compatibility could be difficult. In this article, we will show you the best iPad apps you can use with an M1 Mac.

The Best iPad Apps Compatible With Apple M1 Chipset

1. Overcast

Overcast is one of the best podcast apps. It’s a fully functional, modern-looking, and beautifully designed podcast app that hosts plenty of features. It comes with features like Smart Speed, Voice Boost, Sleep timer, and many others. Besides that, the Overcast app is also compatible with Apple Watch and supports CarPlay.

The Overcast app on an M1 Mac feels like a native podcast app and lets you access all the features as well. It is one of the best-optimized apps that you can find on an M1 Mac. Like the iPhone/iPad app, you’ll get to see ads here if you didn’t subscribe to the premium plan. Other than that, it’s a great Podcast app that you should try if you have got a Mac with M1 onboard.

2. Glo | Yoga and Meditation App

The Glo app is one of the top-rated yoga apps that you can find on the App Store. You can practice yoga and meditation with the best teachers from around the world.

You can find classes for everyone here—beginner to advanced. It provides you with personalized routines to shape yourself. The Glo app is also available on Apple Watch and Apple TV so that you can access them anywhere.

As it works as an iPad app on the M1 Mac, you’ll find it more vertical than horizontal. Either way, you can resize the window to your liking later. The functionality is the same, along with the design language. When you download it, it’s a free app, but it requires an additional subscription of $22.99 per month if you wish to continue the practice.

3. Apollo for Reddit

Apollo for Reddit is a great Reddit client for iPhones and iPads. It has a much faster and cleaner interface than the official Reddit app. You can also customize the app to your preferences.

Its interface on M1 Mac is similar to that of an iPad, so you’ll have a vertical-styled interface. But you can resize it to the size you prefer. That said, we did notice that we couldn’t log in via Reddit for some reason, which seems to be a bug as of now.

The app is free to use, but if you would like more features, you can subscribe for $0.99 per month or $9.99 yearly.

4. LumaFusion

LumaFusion is known as one of the best video editing apps for the iPad and iPhone. It offers features such as intuitive video editing, tons of effects, video stabilizing and color correction tools, audio effects, titles, and much more.

If you’re someone who uses LumaFusion a lot and has an M1 Mac, then you can use the LumaFusion app on your M1 Mac. The functionality is the same as you’d find on an iPad, and so is the interface.

It supports all the features that you’ll find on an iPad or iPhone. However, you’ll have to purchase the LumaFusion app for $19.99 from the App Store, since there’s no free trial included.

5. Habit Tracker

Habit Tracker is a daily-routine planner app. This app lets you build healthy habits that lead you to reach your goals.

It comes with valuable features like habit grouping, statistics, repeated reminders, location reminders, and much more. All your habits are automatically backed up to your iCloud, so you don’t have to worry.

The app works flawlessly on an M1 Mac, but it’s an iPad app, so you’ll see it more horizontally. The app is entirely free to use and supports Apple Watch.

6. North Star

North Star is a goal tracking app. It comes with a beautiful interface in which you can feel comfortable using it. You can plan multiple goals, and North Star will add them to your list.

It lets you track your habits, milestones, and measures your progress over time. In addition to that, you can plan reminders and to-do lists as well. You won’t need to sign up or log in to use the app.

It works flawlessly as a native iPad app on the M1 Mac. You can download and use it for free, or you can upgrade to plans that range from $2.50 per month to $50 for a lifetime.

7. Headspace

Headspace is a meditation app that lets you improve your meditative skills. The app has many guided meditations to help you manage your stress and anxieties, sleep well, focus, and have a healthy mind and body.

The app is also compatible with Apple Watch and works well with iMessages too. Although the app is free to use, you can unlock more features by subscribing to the monthly or yearly plans, which cost $12.99 and $69.99, respectively. In addition to that, Headspace syncs your meditation sessions with the Apple Health app to track them in one place.

8. Picsew

The Picsew app is an app that allows you to stitch together multiple screenshots, so if you’ve used it on an iPad to merge multiple screenshots and create long screenshots, you can now use it on the M1 Mac.

It has some of the best features that a screenshot stitching tool can offer, including screen recording, hiding the status bar, annotations, and a great algorithm to stitch screenshots perfectly. The interface is relatively simple, and the app doesn’t include any advertising. It is available on M1 Macs and iPads and works the same way.

The app is entirely free to use, but you can unlock some more features by upgrading to the Standard or Pro version. If you want the same iPad experience on your Mac, this is a highly recommended tool.
